Trim, doors & baseboards in San Diego. The detail work people notice.
Trim is where bad paint jobs get exposed. Drips on the corners, ragged lines along the carpet, yellowed doors nobody sanded. We mask carpets, caulk gaps, sand glossy old trim, prime any stains, and pull two coats of a proper waterborne enamel so the finish holds up to shoes, cleaning wipes, and dogs.
What's included in this service?
- Baseboard painting with mask-and-caulk along carpet and flooring
- Door painting: six-panel, flat, slab, and bifold
- Window casing and trim repaint with glass-protecting mask
- Crown molding and chair rail with two coats of waterborne enamel
- Stain blocking on water-stain and tannin-bleed areas
- Strip and re-paint glossy old oil-based trim after proper adhesion primer
- Front door repaint with proper exterior-grade enamel
- Re-caulk corners and seams for a tight, crack-free finish
When do you need this service?
- Trim is yellowed, chipped, or showing nail pops
- Baseboards are scuffed from vacuum cleaners and dog tails
- Doors are dingy, especially around handles and kick areas
- Caulk has cracked and the trim has gaps against the wall
- Previous paint is still oil-based and needs conversion to waterborne
- Front door is sun-faded and needs a color refresh
What do homeowners ask about Trim & Doors?
Can I paint just the trim without repainting the walls?
Yes — very common job. We mask walls, floors, and any exposed finish so the wall color stays untouched. If your trim is bright white and walls are off-white, a fresh trim coat alone can make the whole room feel new.
What's the best trim paint?
Benjamin Moore Advance or Sherwin-Williams Pro Classic waterborne alkyd. Both level out almost like oil-based, dry hard, clean easily, and don't yellow over time. We don't use standard interior latex on trim — it stays soft and scuffs within a year.
Can you paint over old oil-based trim?
Yes, but the conversion is a bigger deal than the paint. Oil-based has to be scuff-sanded, degreased, and primed with an adhesion bonder (Stix or SuperGrip) before any waterborne goes on top. Skipping the bonder and the new paint peels within a year.
Do you caulk the trim?
Every trim job includes re-caulking open seams — corners, top of baseboards where they meet the wall, window casing joints. Paintable acrylic caulk, smoothed in with a wet finger, then painted over so it disappears.
Can you paint the front door a dark color?
Yes, but heat is a real factor — dark colors on a west-facing door can hit 140°F in summer and cause the paint to fail early. We use Benjamin Moore's Century or Aura Grand Entrance for dark doors, both of which hold up better in heat than standard exterior paint.

Homeowners who hired us for this
Whole interior of a 3-bedroom in four days. Crew arrived at 8, worked clean, moved furniture themselves, and the cut lines around our textured ceiling are the sharpest I've ever seen on a paint job. Color turned out exactly like the sample.
Got three quotes. Paint Pros was the only one who walked me through the stucco prep in detail — which cracks needed elastomeric, which didn't. They spec'd a premium paint, not the cheapest. Nine months in, zero issues. Fair price for the work that went in.
Transformed our 90s oak kitchen. Doors off-site in a spray booth, sharp lines, handles upgraded. A week from drop-off to reinstall. Our kitchen looks like a $40,000 remodel but it cost us $5,400. Best ROI of anything we've done to this house.
