Cabinet Painting

Cabinet painting in San Diego. Factory-smooth finish, no brush strokes.

Painting cabinets right is 80% prep. We pull every door and drawer, label and number the hardware, take them off-site to sand and spray in a dust-free booth, and paint the boxes in place with proper masking. The result is a factory-smooth enamel finish — not the streaky brush job most DIYers end up redoing two years later.

What do homeowners ask about Cabinet Painting?

How long does cabinet painting last?

Sprayed waterborne enamel with a proper bonding primer lasts 8–10 years before it needs a refresh. You'll eventually see wear around the most-used handles and at the bottom of drawer fronts. That's normal. Brushed DIY jobs usually chip in 1–2 years because the prep and primer steps get skipped.

Can I stay in the house?

Yes. Doors leave for the booth so most of the fumes go with them. Boxes are painted in place over two days. You'll lose kitchen use for about 48 hours total. Plan on takeout or a simpler setup in another room.

Do you spray or brush?

Doors and drawers are always sprayed in a booth — the only way to get a true factory finish. Boxes depend on the kitchen. If they're deep and well-masked, we spray. If they sit next to open pantry goods and floors we can't fully seal, we brush and roll with a microfiber for a near-spray finish.

Can cabinets be painted any color?

Essentially yes. White, off-white, greige, navy, sage, black, and two-tone (uppers vs lowers) are the most common. Darker colors show imperfections more, so prep has to be tight. We carry Benjamin Moore fan decks and can color-match Sherwin-Williams or Behr swatches you've been looking at.

Do you replace hardware?

Yes, as a standalone or bundled in. If you're keeping existing hardware, we polish and reinstall in the same holes. If you're upgrading, we either use the same hole spacing or fill and drill new with a jig to match the new pull size.

Homeowners who hired us for this

Whole interior of a 3-bedroom in four days. Crew arrived at 8, worked clean, moved furniture themselves, and the cut lines around our textured ceiling are the sharpest I've ever seen on a paint job. Color turned out exactly like the sample.

Melissa R. Interior Painting · Carlsbad

Got three quotes. Paint Pros was the only one who walked me through the stucco prep in detail — which cracks needed elastomeric, which didn't. They spec'd a premium paint, not the cheapest. Nine months in, zero issues. Fair price for the work that went in.

David K. Exterior Painting · El Cajon

Transformed our 90s oak kitchen. Doors off-site in a spray booth, sharp lines, handles upgraded. A week from drop-off to reinstall. Our kitchen looks like a $40,000 remodel but it cost us $5,400. Best ROI of anything we've done to this house.
